Acoustilay 8

Acoustilay 8 is a solid acoustic insulation mat designed for use in a variety of applications. It has recently been revolutionised after several years of R&D. It maintains its unique noise insulation properties but is now 100% recycled and sourced and manufactured exclusively in the United Kingdom.

Acoustilay 8 is installed as easily as conventional carpet underlay but with the added benefit of superior noise insulation. It does not limit access: it is simply laid under most floor finishes and replaces existing underlay. It can also help to meet Part E of the Building Regulations.

Noise insulation is separated into two types: impact (footsteps) and airborne (television, speech). Acoustilay comes in three varieties, offering differing levels of both impact and airborne insulation.

Acoustilay 8 has the same resilient base bonded to one attenuating layer, giving a thickness of only 12mm. Impact noise performance is similar to that for Acoustilay 15 but the amount of airborne noise insulation achieved through the use of Acoustilay 8 will depend to a greater extent on the existing structure. Acoustilay 8 is supplied in1200mm x 1200mm pieces which may either be loose laid or bonded to the floor. It can be fitted tight up to the perimeters without the need for an isolating strip. Acoustilay will not transmit vibrations into the walls. Sheets should be laid in a brick pattern, with staggered joints, and butted tight together.
