Specifically designed for timber floors, JCW ImpactaLay Plus is designed to mask both airborne and impact noise. Made of long-lasting foam that does not crumble, it is suitable for all floor finishes. On laminate and vinyl floors, we recommend bonding a layer of 6mm plywood to the underside before laying.
Impactalay Plus is a composite material comprised of reconstituted 10mm Chipfoam with 2.5mm polymeric mass barrier mat bonded both faces of the Chipfoam, it is largely designed for use on concrete floors to help improve Impact noise, however it could also be used to Reduce Impact Noise on Timber floor constructions. When overlaid with T+G Chipboard they could also be used under engineered wood floors.
The sheets come in 1.2m x 1m sheets and can be easily cut with a Stanley knife or jigsaw, the mats should be laid butt edge to butt edge and glued down to secure in place. Mass of these mats is around 15kg/m2.
Sound Solution Consultants Ltd do not recommend this product for reducing Airborne Noise when used on Concrete floor constructions although they can be effective on Timber floor constructions.
