Sound Mat provides dedicated noise insulation and is composed of a single 5mm layer of thick rubber bonded to a single layer of acoustic felt. It can go underneath both carpets and engineered floors and is particularly good where minimal floor height increase is required.
SoundMat 15 is a composite material comprised of 6mm felt bonded to one face of a 6mm thick 12kg/m2 polymeric mass barrier mat, it is largely designed for use on concrete floors to help improve Impact noise, however it could also be used to Reduce Impact Noise on Timber floor constructions. When overlaid with T+G Chipboard they could also be used under engineered wood floors.
The sheets come in 1.2m x 1m sheets and can be easily cut with a jigsaw, the mats should be laid butt edge to butt edge and glued down to secure in place. Mass of these mats is around 15kg/m2.
Sound Solution Consultants Ltd do not recommend this product for reducing Airborne Noise when used on Concrete floor constructions although they can be effective on Timber floor constructions.
