Factory Noise at Work Survey
Noise can heavily effect the health of employees at work, nearly all companies are required by law, to assess whether they need to mitigate for excessive noise. In most cases this is done in the 1st instance by use of a Risk Assessment of the various processes. If a process is identified as a possible source of excessive noise which may be damaging to the health of employees, then a Full Noise At Work Survey will be required.
Every Factory Noise At work Survey must be carried out by a Competent Person and it must be reviewed whenever there is a significant enough change which may effect noise levels within the workplace, in the example of a factory there may be a new piece of machinery installed or extra vehicles employed on the factory floor.
Sound Solution Consultants can carry out a Factory Noise at Work survey for you, and ensure that your survey fulfills the requirements as laid down in the statutory guidance.
In order that we carry out the survey fully, we will need to know the following regarding your factory:
- How many employees
- How many processes.
- Factory layout.
- Hours of work
- Position and duration of work of each employee.
- Position of Noise sources
- Have you got a Health Surveillance policy.
Once we have all this information regarding your factory, then we would work out where to measure within the work environment. In some cases Noise Dose meters may be required, these help to establish noise levels exposed by individual employees who may not work in one area alone which is especially relevant in a factory setting where different processess produce different sound levels.
Once the noise at work survey has been completed, we will provide a full report to yourself, if any mitigation measures are required then we would list these within the report, so that you can review the options open to you.
