Hush Batten Cradle
Hush batten cradles have been designed as a timber batten support with an infinitely adjustable thread, allowing for quick and precise levelling across uneven sub-floors, when upgrading/adding acoustic performance to separating floors.
Used within both new build and refurbishment projects Hush cradles can help correct discrepancies in concrete and timber floors, without the use of fiddly packers and are ideal for creating a service void as part of a sound insulation system.
- The battens comprise of a 60mm deep x 90mm diameter polycarbonate cradle with ‘O’ support ring bonded to the 10mm HushfeltTM resilient layer
- Overall cradle dimensions 90mm diameter x 70mm high
- Overall adjustment 15mm – 60mm above structural base
- Cradle base thickness 15mm
It is normal to fit a max 50mm insulation quilt between the cradles to provide additional acoustic performance or perhaps as part of a robust design.
Battens should be laid into the cradles once levelled, boards can then be glued and screwed to the battens. Boards should be glued together and laid in a brickwork fashion with staggered joints, a perimeter foam edge strip should be fitted around the edge of each room and across the door threshold. The edge foam should then be folded down on to the acoustic flooring with the skirting board then sitting on the edge foam.
